Aboriginal Awareness Canada has 2 online courses: Introductory Aboriginal Awareness and Aboriginal Awareness Certification.
These online skills-based training courses will provide you, or your organization, with the information needed to build effective and positive relationships with Indigenous people in Canada.
You can take each course independently. There is no prerequisite for either course.
Introductory Aboriginal Awareness takes 2-3 hours to complete and allows you to learn the basics about Canada’s Indigenous peoples. The course covers topics such as myths & misconceptions, background, Indigenous peoples, residential schools, and current realities.
Aboriginal Awareness Certification takes 10-12 hours to complete and provides the in-depth information you should know about Indigenous peoples in Canada. This is a skills-based training course for intercultural competency. It takes and in-depth look at topics such as Aboriginal history, UNDRIP, First Nations, Metis, Inuit, residential schools, treaties, reserves, Aboriginal rights and much more.
